Stacy and Darrell’s Wedding – Part 1

Another fabulous wedding where the bride and groom decided to see each other before the ceremony and reap the wonderful benifits!  Like, having a ton of portraits that normally would be impossible to shoot between the ceremony and reception.  I shot the whole wedding, from getting ready, all the way to the reception exit, but...

I can’t believe I’m already doing the “year end” post already!  Where did this year go?  It flew by faster than any year before it!!

Ok, really trying to do some catching up here!  I’ve been so excited about this wedding and couldn’t wait to post it!  This post is too big for just one entry, so first I’ll start with a couple detail shots, some getting ready and a bunch of portraits.  Lindsey and Mark were married last month...

Elise DeJean - The wedding that I did in September (the one I called you about)…they saw each other before the wedding too and that is when I shot the bridal party. Anyway…the photograph near the end where they are standing in front of the large painting…it looks like they are in the painting! Looks amazing! As usual, you are brilliant and these photographs are beautiful!!

Major Sneak Peek: Stacy!!

She choose to shoot it all in one week!  So here’s a sneak peek of all 3!  (I’ll try to get some full posts up soon!)

Jessica B - Hi Dawn, I’ve been reading your blog since before Eve was born and say NO! Don’t dump the blog! Sorry if I haven’t commented much (or ever… I can’t remember specifically if I have before). I love your style. With your logo on the images it looks like a magazine cover – so awesome! As for Facebook vs. Blogs, I vote Blogs for displaying photography. I think it is a better format for it. If it seems there is more action on Facebook, maybe it’s because that’s where you are devoting your energies (you did say it’s easier to post there!) I think that you could do “sneak peaks” on Facebook by posting one image from a session and say “To see more, visit my blog” with a link. Personally, if I visit someone’s website and they don’t have a blog, I am truly disappointed in their efforts of being a succesful photographer. You NEED a blog to show off your most recent work, and to prove how often you do what types of sessions. With a website, you know, I have no idea how many weddings So-and-so does a year, but if they’ve got a blog, then I can see if they’ve got a new one posted every week or only once a quarter. I think that is important for your clients to see. The frequency & consistency of your work, while still providing variety & personalization of their session. DO NOT DUMP THE BLOG!!!

Dawn Earles - Jessica, thank you for the thoughtful response. I do spend alot more time on facebook now, but i couldn’t help myself, the moment I stared using it, i saw a huge response that I didn’t expect and felt the need to keep it going. As a result, I continued spending more time there, and less here. I thought about doing the sneak peek thing there, and blog here, but clients with facebook want to tag their photos so i feel the need to post them all on facebook too. I agree it’s good to have a blog to show recent work, but instead of posting my weddings every week like I should, I go weeks without posting and then catch up with a bunch of posts all in one sitting….. not the best way to do it! I admit, I’ve been blogging for so long now, it’s hard to imagine not doing it, even if I’m having a hard time keeping up with it! ;)

Bethany Newman Marquette - I’m dying to see more of the bridals!!

Krystin’s Wedding

Here’s a wedding I’m editing that was shot last month.  They had TONS of beautiful details and i loved the blue and brown colors they used everywhere!  The grooms cake was a BOAT!  And they all knew how to party!  Blue wigs, brooms and all!

Yep, he got her right in the face!  (don’t worry, she...

Amy and Josh’s Rainy Wedding at Rip Van Winkle

It was a beautiful event, and rain wasn’t going to stop Amy from having her dream wedding.  Watching the radar on Josh’s phone, we knew we only had a small break in the rain to have the outdoor ceremony, so we went with it.  And sure enough, after a small break, it started coming down…....
