Acadian Village Wedding Photography | Allison and Seth

Allison and Seth were married at the beautiful Acadian Village on March 17th.  The sky was blue, the ducks were swimming…and it was HOT!  I realized at that moment that it wasn’t just spring that came early this year, but that it seems summer just can’t wait to crash the party.  I accidentally arrived a bit too early (I won’t admit just how early either, so don’t ask) and when I saw the bridal suite was completely empty and there were no decorations on the grounds, for a split second I was nervous that somehow I may have for the first time in my life, messed up the date.  But no, I was just early!  It was interesting to watch all the vendors arrive shortly after me, and scramble to get the decorations up.  It really makes you appreciate all the hard work and planning that goes into a wedding.  To imagine all the work the couple has to do from deciding on a theme, shopping for every last detail, and in many cases, spending countless hours on DIY projects….. it’s amazing to think any couple ever actually has time to even enjoy their engagement.  And in Allison and Seth’s case, they had all this, and a new baby.  Wow, what an undertaking!  My hat goes off to all you brides out there, who stay up late at night to plan your perfect wedding, spend all your precious days off shopping for and creating your details, meeting with your vendors, and making all the preparations.  It must put you in a state of shock to watch everything you planned for, zip by at the speed of light on your big day.  You all deserve the wedding of your dreams, and a lifetime of love and happiness.

How they met:

”Seth and I were introduced by one of my good friends, who happens to be his first cousin, in 2008. After a few dates, we came to realize that we were 9 years apart. In my 19 year old mind, the age 28 scared me, as you can imagine he felt the same! I thought he was about five years younger, as he thought I was about five years older. Little did he know I was happy he was buying my drinks not because I couldn’t afford them, but because I couldn’t legally buy them on my own! We still laugh about it to this day. Anyways, I knew immediately he was different, but wasn’t ready to settle down quite just yet. After giving him the run around for a year, his cousin informed me he was seeing someone, and that’s all it took. I realized at that very moment I was not happy, because he was meant to be mine and only mine. I called him that night at 2am, after not talking for 2 months, and told him exactly how I felt. From that phone call on we have been inseparable and happier than ever. I can not imagine loving anyone more than him, not only for what he has made for himself, but for what continues to make of me everyday.”

Planning the Perfect Wedding

“I’m all about traditional, but I wanted something unique and memorable for our wedding. I felt like Acadian Village allowed me to use the natural setting of rustic/acadian culture and still include the traditional factors I wanted for my wedding.   Almost all of my details were made by Seth and I. We even built our sign-in board our selves. I wanted the wedding to be completely “ours” from the standpoint that everything you saw was there because we put our heart into it. We spent hours wrapping letters in jute that we used to reserve our family tables. Even our ring bearer’s pillow had a wood chip attached with our initials “S & A” engraved in it.”

Those Unforgettable Moments:

“A special moment I never will forget is when the part of the ceremony came that asked for the rings, Seth and I both realized that neither one of us had our wedding bands. We were both so consumed with making sure that everything was in line that we forgot the most important part of our special day! It wasn’t as entertaining at the moment it happened as it is now, but we realized that the rings are materialistic. They are just a symbol of our love and weren’t necessary for us to have our moment. We went through the ceremony “pretending” to put them on each other, and quickly got them out of the car after. Definitely a memorable moment!!”

Wisdom to Share:

“Try and decide exactly what you have in mind for your wedding a good ways before the date. Also, if you decide to hire a professional, make sure you are completely aware of their roles and responsibilities for your wedding day. And although its is inevitable, don’t sweat the small things! While the little details mean EVERYTHING to you, take a step back to look at the big picture and take in what this is really about..they are not as important as they seem when you are caught up in the moment.”

Their adorable baby boy!

Time for the big reveal!

Seth is such a funny guy.  He goes from serious to silly in the blink of an eye.  Allison gets to look forward to a lifetime of laughs with this guy!

Someone called Seth to let him know he had a bright red pair of lips on his cheek  ;)

(This is the exact reason my hair is no longer down to my waist.  Like most new moms, I was so tired of Eve pulling at it, that I chopped it all off!)

Some of these cards are so hilarious… read them!  ;)

One of my all time favorite bridesmaids dresses!  Also, love the energy from this toast!
